Immersed in the tranquil Tuscan countryside, this charming estate is ideally located to explore Tuscany’s cultural highlights and most spectacular natural wonders. Situated in the heart of Chianti, between Florence and Siena, Villa Il Santo exudes classic charm with a distinctive style that is evocative of traditional Tuscany. Ideal for families and groups of friends who want to enjoy the tranquility of the countryside, Villa Il Santo is close to Florence yet perfectly peaceful and private.

The villa is just a stone's throw away from Greve in Chianti, a gastronomist’s paradise close to Panzano. Butchers around the town are famed for their beef, wild boar, cured pork, and more. Surrounded by Chianti vineyards, Greve hosts Chianti’s best-known grape harvest festival, the Expo del Chianti Classico. Over a long weekend in September, there are guided outdoor tastings plus live music and other events. This is classic Chianti country, just like you have seen in pictures and Renaissance paintings.

In just thirty-five minutes by car, you can reach Florence, a treasure trove of art with an astonishing contemporary vibe. Beyond the extraordinary artistic heritage, a testimony to its centuries of civilization, the best way to enjoy Florence is to stroll along the riverside avenues at sunset, or to get lost among the city’s myriad alleyways of the bohemian Oltrarno or the narrow little streets of San Niccolò, where it feels like you have ended up in another time along its centuries-old walls.

The villa is also a few kilometers from Panzano, which overlooks the Conca d’Oro, a “Golden Bowl” of sunbaked, south-facing Sangiovese vines that produce some of the region’s most sought-after red wines. Panzano is also home to Chianti’s most famous butcher, Dario Cecchini. You can taste Dario’s meat cooked, too, at a trio of Cecchini-owned restaurants: Dario DOC, for informal lunch at communal tables, Solociccia, for hungry meat-lovers, and Officina Della Bistecca, for the very hungry carnivore.

Situated within the beautiful Tuscan landscape, just a stone’s throw away from Florence, Villa Il Santo is an exclusive historic residence nestled in the heart of the Chianti region. With classic décor and terraces that make the most of the views across the rolling hills, this villa offers an exclusive retreat in one of the most evocative corners of Tuscany. Surrounded by rolling hills and immersed in ancient history, Villa Il Santo can sleep up to 16 guests in 8 bedrooms (5 double bedrooms and 3 twin rooms) spread over three floors.

With an enchanting setting, the villa boasts a generous garden and a large terrace crowned by an exclusive infinity pool (heated on request, at an extra cost) overlooking the gentle hills surrounding Florence. The lawn around the pool features comfortable sun loungers and deckchairs inviting guests to unwind. Surrounded by greenery and offering a serene atmosphere, the outdoor area boasts a wide choice of shaded al fresco areas where you can have lunch, relax with a book or take a siesta while admiring the breathtaking views of the surrounding countryside.

Surrounded by vineyards and olive groves, the estate has been owned by numerous prominent Florentine families over the ages. After the property was inherited in 1999, the new owner started a lengthy project of tasteful enhancements and renovations to bring the castle back to its former glory. Today, the interiors of the property exude historic charm with a distinctive style that is evocative of traditional Tuscany. The ground floor boasts a fully-equipped kitchen, two sumptuous living rooms, and two elegant dining rooms.

The ground floor also features a double bedroom with en-suite bathroom with shower (suitable for disabled people). The first floor features a double bedroom with en-suite bathroom with shower; a double bedroom with en-suite bathroom with bathtub; and a twin room with en-suite bathroom with bathtub. The second floor features a charming reading room; double bedroom with en-suite bathroom with shower; two twin rooms sharing a bathroom with bathtub; and a double bedroom with en-suite bathroom with bathtub. Please note that the caretaker of the villa lives in an annex adjacent to the villa.

Retention time
