VILLA CALA PICCOLA - PORTO SANTO STEFANO
7 Bedrooms
Location and Surrounding Area
Villa Cala Piccola is snuggled on the hillside just outside exclusive Porto Santo Stefano and commands stunning views across the water. This area of coastal Tuscany has been an elite destination for years and the backdrop of rolling hills and olive groves set against the azure waters of the Mediterranean has a calming effect on both body and soul.
The Monte Argentario area is surrounded by splendid beaches, enchanting sandy coves and flat rocks, which are perfect for sand-free sunbathing and snorkelling. Cala Piccola is one such delightful little bay with pebbles and turquoise water. Some of the other beaches are accessible by car, some by foot and some only via boat. For example, there is the 7km long natural stretch of La Feniglia sand dunes with fine sand leading down to the sea, the picturesque pebbly Cala del Gesso or the Pozzarello beach with easy its access from the road, bars and restaurants.
The seven islands of the Tuscan Archipelago are within relatively easy reach of Porto Santo Stefano by boat; Elba, Giglio, Capraia, Montecristo, Pianosa, Giannutri and Gorgona.
The Argentario golf course is in a beautiful area only five minutes away from the Nature Reserve of La Feniglia sand dunes and hosts some of the most important golf tournaments in Tuscany and Italy. It was designed by the architect David Mezzacane and the professional golfer Balsovino Dassù and opened in 2006. It has a panoramic 18-hole course, which is certified organic eco-compatible and all of the products used in maintaining the golf course are completely natural. In addition to the wonders of the course itself, the Argentario Golf Academy also boasts a staff of experienced professionals and a TrackMan Ille simulator for swing analysis.
Villa Cala Piccola is only 4.4 km from the bustling town of Porto Santo Stefano, which offers everything you might need in the way of shops, restaurants, bars and services. Rome's international airports are about 150 km away.
The Property
Villa Cala Piccola was designed in the 1970s by the Spanish architect Julio Lafuente, who managed to cleverly blend the exterior and interior of the villa to create a uniquely harmonious living space. The villa sleeps up to fourteen guests in seven double bedrooms, each with air conditioning and its own luxurious en suite bathroom. Each of the bedrooms has a distinctive, personal style and has been decorated with exquisite taste and excellent pieces of period furniture and contemporary art. There is a magnificent black stone staircase that leads up to the sleeping area on the first floor.
The ground floor of the villa boasts two indoor living rooms plus a stunning outside living space that seamlessly forms part of the interior whilst enjoying the benefits of the fresh Tuscan sea breezes. The black slate flooring creates a dramatic backdrop to the azure blue of the sky above and the sea below. There is a charming stone fountain carved into the wall and plenty of shade for hot days. The indoor living rooms are once again designer-elegant and there is a pretty tea corner in one of the indoor living rooms. The dining room features a stunning black table and natural stone walls and the kitchen is spacious and comes fitted with all the necessary conveniences for cooking up divine Italian meals.
The spectacular terrace faces west and romantic sunsets are guaranteed to set the mood for cozy conversations. The panoramic infinity swimming pool is set just below the villa and looks out over the Mediterranean. The poolside area is furnished with sun loungers and to complete the high standard of the property, Villa Cala Piccola has its own floodlit tennis court in the gardens. A pretty footpath leads from the villa through the gardens and down to the rocky Cala del Bove below. Although the beach isn't strictly private, it's rare to find anyone else on it so you are pretty much guaranteed to have the wooden, sunbathing platform all to yourself.
Villa Cala Piccola is only 4.4 km from the bustling town of Porto Santo Stefano, which offers everything you might need in the way of shops, restaurants, bars and services. Rome's international airports are about 150 km away.
