Montevettolini is a medieval village located outside the city of Pistoia. The village is peaceful, with historic palaces, churches, and winding streets offering breathtaking views. Take a stroll to see the Church of San Michele Arcangelo and its bell tower, and, if you are fortunate, you might catch the Medieval Feast which occurs once a year. Montevettolini is part of Monsummano Terme, known for its spas, Etruscan ruins, and ancient walls. Pistoia, the medieval city, is the capital of the province where Montevettolini and Monsummano Terme are situated.

The Property
Built in the 16th century, this grand mansion was once one of the twelve sumptuous hunting lodges of Grand Duke Ferdinando I, grandson of the famous Lorenzo de’ Medici. Combining historic charm with modern conveniences, Villa Montevettolini has been exquisitely restored while preserving its original atmosphere. The villa can accommodate up to twelve guests, featuring six bedrooms (four double bedrooms and two twin rooms), each with an en-suite bathroom, spread over two floors.

This property is steeped in history, having hosted guests such as Paolina Bonaparte and the Grand Duchess of Tuscany. The interior of the house is adorned with luxurious touches that invite relaxation and a sense of aristocracy upon entering the estate. This exclusive property, owned by a prominent Italian family, welcomes guests with its beauty and charm. One word: opulence. Guests are surrounded by art, chandeliers, murals, Persian rugs, antiques, fireplaces, and vaulted ceilings.

Set amidst a lush Italian garden, the villa features a monumental staircase leading to a large swimming pool and a spacious poolside area with sun loungers, perfect for unwinding. There is also a pool house with a changing area and a game room with a table tennis table, plus multiple spots for relaxing with a good book. This room also includes a small fridge. Surrounded by lemon trees and bushes, the garden features an exclusive al fresco dining area shaded by greenery, with stone and marble tables and chairs overlooking the pool.

The villa has been carefully restored and enhanced by the current owner, whose family acquired the property more than 200 years ago. Guests enter the villa to find a ground floor perfect for hosting dinners, featuring a formal dining room with a fireplace that comfortably seats twenty guests. There is also an additional dining room and a spacious, fully-equipped gourmet kitchen with two fridges, an ice maker, a coffee machine, a dishwasher, and an oven.

The ground floor also includes a bathroom with a shower and two bedrooms for staff. Please note that these two rooms are not included in the rental price but are available on request at an additional cost. Two separate staircases lead to the upper floor, which features a billiard room, a consecrated private chapel, a generous living room with two sitting areas, comfortable sofas, a piano, a reading room with a library, and a cosy living room with a fireplace.

The villa features six bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms. On the ground floor, there are two bedrooms: a double bedroom with an en-suite bathroom with a shower and a double bedroom with an en-suite bathroom with a bathtub. The villa, built nearly 500 years ago, retains its original themed decorations, charming and enchanting to all its guests. Some of these decorations make certain areas of the villa particularly special, such as the billiard room, located in front of the original sacred chapel. With 1200 square metres of living space, the villa is fully enclosed, and the entrance features an automatic gate. Please note that the caretakers of the villa reside in a private wing of the house.
