MASSERIA GRANDE – FASANO
7 Bedrooms
Location and Surrounding Area
Masseria Grande is located in one of the more suggestive regions of magical Puglia in southern Italy. You'll find plenty of pristine, sandy beaches, such as Torre Canne and the nature reserve at Torre Guaceto plus a zoo safari and water park for children in Fasano. The area is well-known for its gastronomic delights and is celebrated for its numerous, exceptionally good eateries, several of which are starred restaurants. The fresh fish and sea food are exquisite and the style of cooking is generally very simple, which brings out the wholesome, natural flavours of the locally grown produce. The olive oil in Puglia is arguably the best in Italy and nothing beats the sheer, sublime, simplicity of a toasted tomato bruschetta with fresh olive oil drizzled over the top! The local wines are exquisite and are being increasingly noticed on international wine circuits.
The centre of the nearby UNESCO World Heritage site of Alberobello is made up entirely of trulli, the dome-shaped dwellings traditional to Puglia. The dry stone trulli are built from limestone blocks, often with a spire on top and generally consist of a central, round room leading into smaller circular rooms. Polignano al Mare is a coastal gem perched high on the cliffs overlooking the sea. It was originally a Greek settlement and features picturesque medieval lanes meandering through white-washed houses. The restaurants are exceptional and many have outdoor eating areas for enjoying the fresh, local produce whilst listening to the waves below. The fabled white city (Città Bianca) of Ostuni is a must on anyone's destination list. It rises high on a plateau overlooking the sea and you can spend hours getting lost in the pretty lanes only to find yourself back at the cathedral at the top.
The prestigious San Domenico Golf was designed by The European Golf Design company and is situated just next door to the property. Golfing enthusiasts are able to enjoy incredible views over the ancient city of Egnatia from the course.
Masseria Grande is roughly halfway between the international airports at Bari and Brindisi. The larger Bari airport is about an hour's drive and Brindisi about 40 minutes. The Torre Canne beaches are less than 15 minutes away in the car and Alberobello, Polignano al Mare and Ostuni are all a half hour drive.
