Location and Surrounding Area. Villa Artemisia is an exquisite Tuscan farmhouse set in 12 hectares of magnificent woodland in the glorious Val d'Orcia, which is within easy reach of many of the marvels that Tuscany has to offer. It's only a short drive to the wonders of the UNESCO World Heritage Site of the Renaissance town of Pienza and home of arguably the finest wine producing area in Italy.

Montepulciano is a stunning hilltop Renaissance town and the Cantucci family, for example, has been creating fine wines since the 1700s and is considered one of the founding fathers of the exceptional red wine, Vino Nobile di Montepulciano. Another sought-after red wine, the Brunello di Montalcino, has been produced in the hills around Montalcino since the early 14th century, partly due to the fact that Montalcino has the warmest and driest climate in Tuscany.

This same mild climate means that golfers can play all year round on some of Italy's most seductive golf courses. The prestigious 18-hole Golf dell'Ugolino, for example, is the oldest Golf club in Italy. It even features in Chris Santella's best-selling book, “Fifty places to play golf before you die”. The Castiglion del Bosco golf course has 18 holes and was designed by Tom Weiskopf, winner of the British Open. It boasts an unparalleled playing experience and is Italy's only Golf Club to be set within a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Perugia is an enchanting university city famous for its art, culture, summer jazz festival and chocolate! Perugia was home to the painter Pietro Vannuci, known as Perugino and teacher to Raphael the great Renaissance artist. Vannuci's frescoes still decorate the Sala del Cambio and there are various paintings in the National Gallery of Umbria in Perugia.

Villa Artemisia is about an hour and a half from Florence international airport and two hours from Rome Fiumicino international airport. The towns of Montalcino, San Quirico, Pienza and Montepulciano are all within 30 minutes and Perugia, Siena and Assisi are about an hour away. Castiglion del Bosco Golf Club is 40 minutes away and Golf dell'Ugolino is about an hour.

The Property. Villa Artemisia was described as “idyllic” when it was featured in the British edition of House and Garden magazine for its delightful interiors, romantic gardens and unsurpassed views across Tuscany. It sleeps up to ten guests in five sumptuous double bedrooms, each with its own en suite bathroom. The living room has a traditional Tuscan open fireplace and French windows leading out onto the terrace. The country-style kitchen is modern and fully equipped with everything you might need to create some delicious meals. The only hard part is deciding whether to eat in the welcoming dining room or outside on the terrace under the dappling leaves of the shady pergola. It's a tough decision! There is also a useful laundry room with a washing machine and tumble dryer.

The understated, natural beauty of the south-west facing terrace is guaranteed to create lifelong memories of cozy conversations. The tangled vines have created a natural pergola and the dining table can seat up to 16 guests. Imagine the view across the valley as you sip a glass of exceptional Chianti wine. There is even a barbecue area for grilling some of the fresh produce from the help-yourself, organic vegetable garden.

The heated swimming pool also has breathtaking views and comes complete with a furnished poolside area, changing room and a shady picnic area with a fridge. The gardens, woods, orchards and olive groves extend almost as far as the eye can see and there is parking for up to eight cars.
